But you’re running this in WebI / Infoview, right? The openDocument syntax may vary by version – so please tell us which version of WebI you are using, and a moderator will move this to the correct forum.

i am using BO 5.1.7 and webI 2X.

Moving from “Building Reports” --> BusinessObjects Classic sub-forum to WebI 1.x/2.x sub-forum.

Could the problem be that your prompt text has spaces? I remember when I played with OpenDocument syntax 3 or 4years ago that prompt text with spaces was problematic. I do not remember what you might have to do to deal with it.

And, is your 2005 supposed to be numeric or alpha? If alpha, you might have to force quote marks around it somehow. Again, it’s been too many years for me to remember what I experimeted with – but if you search in this forum for OpenDocument, you’ll find past discussions that may help you out.[/img]

i have looked into the prompt and its fine there is no problem with the spaces,
when i want to force a value to prompt in the report i may say
IsS= if numeric
IsS=’’ if alphabetic

my situation is like this
i report will look as

products—Jan—Feb—Mar—April
apple-------1.2—3.3—2.5----6.5

so when i click on 1.2 it should open another report forcing to Jan which has the prompt as month.

any ideas how to get such type of report will be great help.
thanks

Here is where I’d posted the syntax that worked for me.

It looks to me like you’re using a capital letter “I” where the syntax expects a lower-case “L” (l). That is, you have IsS rather than lsS.

hi anita
it still is not picking up the value automatically its prompting me to enter the value
this is my syntax for the variable and it is charector and i have checked object format as HTML

’+convert(varchar(10),trend.theMonth)+’

i am using sql server
and BO 5.1.7

I’m really sorry, but I don’t have the time to spare debugging this one for you. Let me make some suggestions:

1.) Compare your syntax to the hyperlink I’d given you, to make sure you have it right.

2.) Make sure the spelling of your prompts are identical to those in the report.

3.) Even though you think spaces aren’t a problem, try changing your prompt text (and they URL) to something without spaces, and see if that makes a difference.

I struggled with it when I experimented with it – and haven’t used it in a very long time (3+ years). I remember that I ended up with prompts without spaces.

Good luck!

I have problem to create link object in Unverse. The version is BO 5.1.7. Webi 2.5.
The syntax I use
‘<A HREF="/wi/bin/iswi.dll/WIGenerator/wigenerator/generator/OpenDocument?sDocName=Testing&sDocType=W&iDocId=4066&sRepo=Development&sOpen=Y&lsMSites:=’ || TABLE_SITE.NAME + ‘" >’ || TABLE_SITE.NAME|| ‘’

When I use this object to create a parent report. I always get ORA-01722: invalid number :-1722. Seems like Oracle DB does not support this link. Please help me out. :blue:

As I’d suggested, I can’t completely trouble-shoot this for you. But the colon (:slight_smile: after your &lsMSites looks weird to me. I wonder if that’s throwing the syntax off. Try changing the prompt to eliminate the colon.

If that doesn’t do it, I don’t see anything else that pops out at me.
