Is there a way to use the existing connection(universe) to use the data source as “query using sql”? Because while refreshing the dashboard using sql requires password from the users. How can we avoid this?

Not sure I understand the question, but anytime you want to bypass the username/pw, then needs to be setup on the server side.

When I create a storyboard using SQL, users are asked to enter DB credentials when they refresh the story board in BILaunchpad.

Kinda depends on the database. If you are using MS-SQL. The database credentials could be set up using Windows Authentication. But I think that requires AD accounts. I do not know how it is done with other databases.
