Is it possible to connect a Business Objects universe to VSAM files on an IBM mainframe? If so, are there any special driver files that are required? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

About one person a year asks about some off-the-wall connection like that. 
Check into Intersolv. They have ODBC drivers that can connect to just about anything you can imagine. If they have one for VSAM, you can use the Generic ODBC driver for BO.
If they tell you you’re smoking rocks, try finding a utility (or write one!) that can convert the VSAM format to some other format - like comma-separated text - or import the data into Oracle or some other database.

If you want to go nuts try Intersolv. If you want to try something that actually works contact Cross Access. They make great connectivity products for all sorts of fils on mainframes. Check out www.crossaccess.com
