Okay I’m still not getting this security concept, I’ve tried going by the Excel with the matrix, however it’s still not right.
Basically what I want to do is create a security group that will allow a group to just view Web intelligence and crystal reports and then do a refresh on them. I had it working to the point of where they could schedule the report but when they double clicked on it to view latest instance it would error out and say " Input string not correct". So I did the groups trying to follow the matrix. Now They can view lastest but the Edit button is active allowing the users to go in and edit the query or report. How do I get a balance ? I’m just not understanding it…
Security modelling is not easy and there is not easy method of implementing other than being very pedantic and document all your settings and test each change to see the effect.

i’m not sure what’s going wrong in your particular case - i don’t recognise that error you’re getting. Watch that where users belong to two groups that one group isn’t over riding access from another group. I like to split my groups into functional access groups (groups that control what functionality a user has such as view, refresh, edit query etc) and data access groups (groups that control what reports, universes a user has access to). This helps to keep things simple and can make troubleshooting easier.
