We have a need to create a role (or id), which is effectively a ‘browse’ only, or possibly just limit the id access to a specific Data Services Project instead of a browse-only role (administrator, operator, etc).
I see the roles of Administrator, Operator, Monitor are available, but those appear to be able to access all projects/objects.
We dont want to grant Administrator or Operator, due to the ability to make changes to production code.
Is there a way to give access to an id for just specific Projects, or just grant browse only an id ?
We are on 3.1 right now.
Is this type of 'security setup available in 4.x ?

Before I could start answering, I have a question. Are you looking for these options on Management console level or on the Designer Level?

These securities are not really matured in the Management Console.
But in case of Designer, then I assume you talk about restricting the objects getting pulled from the Central Repository.
Yes you could definitely do this by creating Users/Groupds for the Central Repository. For this to start, your Central Repository should be a Secure Central Repo (otherwise you cannot even register your Central Repo in Admin Console)
Basically there are 3 privileges I believe
- FULL
- READ ONLY
- - Basically when you don’t assign FULL/READ-ONLY this is in effect.

Additional Note: In 4.0 I believe security for Management Console has not changed on a bigger picture.
But for Designer, the security has gone one-level up where you need a DI level login apart from just the DB level informations.
But all the basic setups of Admin Console is also shifted towards CMC
