Upgrading DS 4.1 to 4.2 on New Server - Copying Repos

We’re in the process of trying to creating a new DS 4.2 server to effect an upgrade. I’ve gone through one method of copying and upgrading a repository, which consists of a set of somewhat convoluted steps of moving between the 4.1 and 4.2 tools to export, import, and then upgrade the repo. I’m wondering if there isn’t an easier way. Is it possible to just backup the 4.1 repo database and restore it on the 4.2 server, and then upgrade each of the repositories?

Yes, its possible to backup, then restore to a new databases then update. Just keep in mind that the restore repository will still contain the IPS, and jobs server information of the old 4.1 installation in the AL_MACHINE_INFO and AL_CERTS table.
