My DBA wants to upgrade to service pack 2. The supported platforms guide lists SQL Server 2005, but doesn’t explicitly list service pack 2. Has anyone done this before? Any issues with the upgrade?
btw…the Sticky linking to the PAR is now pointing to a broken link.
We are running CMS on SQL Server 2005 -SP2 with no problems.
The BO version is: XIR2 SP3 in some deployments and SP4 in other deployments.
Note that CMS database is not an upgrade to SP2, it is straight SP2 install.
It should work for upgrade as well.
Thanks for the reply. According to my DBA the SQL server patch has some back-end changes but for the most part is transparent to an end user (or business objects). Sounds like I should be ok.
BTW…finally found the link to the PAR.
Under service.sap.com (same place to submitted cases) - > go to the tab ‘SAP Support Infrastructure’ then the subtab ‘Business Objects Support’. On the left expand ‘Documentation’ then ‘Supported Platforms’.
I don’t think you can bookmark the URL, it has a long sequence of numbers and not something you could remember.
Companies should be moving to SQL 2008 now, versus service packs, if they can. The core engine is very similar, and there’s always SQL 2005/2000 compatibility modes to fall back on if needed. There should be few, if any, interoperability issues with 2005 vs. 2008.
