We will be upgrading from DS XI 3.0 (12.1) to DS 4.0, however we plan to migrate our jobs across to DS 4.0 in stages, so we will run both environments for a period of time (probably a few months). My question is regarding the R/3 functions. Our ECC systems currently have the functions from DS XI 3.0 installed. Are there any compatability issues to consider in terms of which version of the R/3 functions we should install on the ECC systems ?

I don’t think it is of a big deal. But the jobs might keep banging a warning message that it is looking for a specific version and it is seeing only a older version of it…

We did this with Rapid Mart content with no issues, but I assume you will use the new SAP transports at some point. Just make sure you test fully, as Ganesh stated, you will receive a bunch of ABAP mismatch errors but those can be suppressed in the DSconfig.

Hi all,
I have exactly the same situation: I have the DS 3.1 running perfectly with SAP and I’m migrating to DS 4.0.
In the SAP Server I have created the ZAW0 group with the DS 3.1 functions.
Now I need install in the same SAP Server the functions of DS 4.0
What is the best thing to do?
I think that I need to create a new function group ZAW1 with the new functions. Is this the right option?
If yes, will Data Services 3.1 understand that your functions is in the function group ZAW0 and will Data Services 4.0 understand that your functions is in the function group ZAW1?
