I have about 80 recurring scheduled crystal reports based on one base crystal report. It is all working good, now the base report is modified mainly on fonts and line spacing and there are no parameter changes.
How can I update the base report without the need to recreate all 80 recurring schedules.
4.1 sp7
I appreciate your help.
Any update to the base report should simply be reflected in future scheduled instances. If you update the report properly (i.e., don’t break the CUID), the schedules should remain in place.
In Crystal Reports client tool, after I Import the report from the Enterprise can I update enterprise version with the locally modified report.
Report was already modified in crystal reports locally with out importing from enterprise by some one else.
Generally, you should be able to save the local version over the Enterprise version. Just use “Save as”, navigate to the existing report in Enterprise, and overwrite it.
However, this method does sometimes not work correctly. You could end up with a copy with a different CUID, which would not bring over all the schedule information. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you when or why it might do that. Just be warned that you should have a backup ready to go.
If it is scheduled report. The ‘original’ scheduled report will not be updated unless you re-schedule the report once the report has been updated on the server.
In 4.1, as long as you do not make any changes to the parameters, the existing schedules should automatically pick up the changes. This was not true in earlier versions of BO. If you make parameter changes, then you’ll have to create new schedules (NOTE: in this case, the “Reschedule” option in BO will NOT work!)
