Universe name changed

Hi ,

I have created 15 reports on Universe named ECBI_UNV.

I wants to know the impact if i change the universe name.

Is this the long universe name or the filename?

It is File name.

test is by creating a new universe and a report on it and then change it.

btw: you can always have your reports point to a new universe.

If you change this in the standard way then you will break your reports…

The name by which the user identifies a universe from reporter is called long name.

Note :

In XIR2 when you change the unv file name,you will have to reassign your dataproviders of all your reports. Not a good idea!

Changing not the file name but the Long universe name for version purposes (in parameters) causes also another universe instance so this also not a succes! I think a lot of people do not know this because in version 6.5 this was possible without problems.

Can anyone agree with me?

Conclusion: Version management with a version number in the long description is not a succes when promoting this new universe to e.g. a test environment. It is a shame that this causes trouble. A new universe is created the on the test environment.

Changing the name of the universes using the CMC will have the reports linked to the universe. I never had any issues doing it this way. Hope that helps.
