universe is not being updated in infoview

i am using BUSINESS OBJECTS XI R 3.1. something strange is going on, i have made some changes to universe and exported to repository. When i refresh the report in infoview ,any deski/webi , it doesnot take the update universe however when i open deski and edit the dataprovider then it imports the correct universe and report refreshes correctly.

but this is not happening in infoview when i refresh deski or webi. it doesnot bother to check the updated universe and refresh the report with older univerese.

Hi,

It wont update just by refreshing, please edit the report and go to the Query panel. it will then notify you that your source universe has been changed.

while refreshing, should not it check for universe copy which it is trying to point to and copy which is there in repository ?

Refresh will not take updated version in BOXI3.x like BOXIR2. You must logoff and loggin.

i have done refresh after login and log off in infoview and this issue is there since 1 week. it is not taking updated universe however in deski , it shows correctly when i edit query.

Do you have any other universes in the universe folders with the same name?
Did you export the universe properly? I mean, if you open more than one universe in your local machine, you must select the right universe to export.

Have you tried creating a new class or object, hiding it and re-exporting? This can, sometimes, update the universe in the CMS.

You could also try deleting it enitirely, backing up first, then re-exporting…

i dont have any duplicate copy and also i have exported properly and thats why in deski , it shows correctly.

Try this :yesnod:

i think Mak 1 may be right. i have not done any changes. i had one weird requirement wherein i had to just change the sequence of joins i.e. table1.x = table2.x and table1.y = table2.y which is required to be changed to table1.y = table2.y and table1.x = table2.x
i think thats why CMS is not identifying any change in universe. let me try the Mak 1 suggestion of creating class and hide it and export it.

i forgot to mention onething that existing report does not recognise the changes to universes however if i create new report then changes are there.

i tried to create class and hide it and exported to repository.it did not work.
are these existing reports picking univereses from chache or what? i am not able to understand why they dont see the updated universe.

Something you are missing some where…

Take a back up of the universe,
Rename the universe name and file name and export to the repository.
Then you can able to see this in repository.
So, point to this universe to the reports.
Then delete the existing old universe.
After testing the reports, change the new universe name to original name.

Hope it will work.

I suspect it is being cached in the filestore and is not actually being deleted when you delete the universe from the CMS.

Has BOXI been rebooted recently?

Maybe, after deleting, back up first, you could search for the universe in the filestore itself and delete it there?
You can find the file store entry in the CMC, before deleting the universe.

Did you guys try a integrity check. That may help. The best thing is, make the changes and save the unv to your local drive. Then reboot the server and export the saved copy. It may work. Do not forget to check the integrity before export. Deleting the unv may bounce back at times. If the reports could not get the unique identification # of the universe you may end up creating all the reports once again (we experienced this once).

i am little scared of deleting universes.i rebooted servers couple of times to see if something happens. it still does not work.
check the integrity means that check that option or do the integrity check before export?

BOnd007 :india: (BOB member since 2009-08-11)

What I mean is integrity check before export. I suggest to save the unv. Reboot your server. BTW are you re-booting all the servers or just the CMC? I prefer all servers. Again if business object is installed in a server (not BO servers) then try rebooting the main server. Then export your unv to the server. It should work. If it does not. open one report see the query used, make some changes and save. It should work. There is another option if you have access to BO admin lunchpad. On your left side look for a box “Administration Tools”. Within look for a tool named “Object Repository Helper”. Get into it and refresh your report property. Do not do it for all the reports. Just select one report and see if it works. Select all report property refresh. See what happens. Thanks.

If you are still facing issues, you could try this, replacing the universe:-

contacted SAP and they told me this is a bug. they have raised adapt tracking number ADAPT01307304 and fixed in FP2.3.

If an existing report is not seeing the changes and a new report is, that definatly indicates there are two different universes in the repository. Maybe not the same name, but maybe the same SI_Short_name

Run this query in Query Builder

Select SI_Name,SI_Short_Name from CI_AppObjects where SI_Kind='Universe'

Check for a duplicate SI_short_name.
