Universe Design using the Excel sheet

Can any help me out in designing the universe using the excel sheet as the Datasource.

You cannot use the Excel file to Design your universe.

I believe (s)he wants to use Excel as the data source for a universe, in which case it can be done.

Ensure that the following steps are done before inserting a table from Excel sheet into a universe.

  1. Go to Excel and highlight all the cells that you want in the same table.
  2. Go to the Name box from Insert->Name->Define and give a name (in Designer, you see this name as a table of all the values you have selected).
  3. Go to Designer and pop up the table browser. You have to drag and drop the name you gave.

What integrity checking do you expect it to do from an Excel source? It’s not a database… :wink:

I’ve never done it, but if I were going to try, I’d do a search to find all posts in this Semantic Layer forum that have the keyword Excel and read through them. :wink:

yes… its mandatory settings… (like highlights the data and name box naming etc )
however my :hb: trouble in report scheduling …
if my excel will get replaced periodically through scheduling, then each time i need to perform these setting manually…
can we automate these setting … :mrgreen:
if Yes, how… ? if anybody can provide the answer for HOW, that would be great help for me ?
