Universe creation using flat files

Hi
Is i possible to create a uiniverse using flat files(excel,xml etc.).

Is it possible to create a single universe using tables from two different databases(oracle and sql).

Clarify me.

Depends on the version.

Possible by DB linking, although it is not recommended performance wise.

Not sure about the XML but you can create a universe from a xls spreadsheet in any version ( well at least from 6.x upwards)

Thanks Dessa,

We are currently working on BO XI R2.While creating a universe,we are specifying a data connection.For excel what data connection we have to establish.

Can you just guide me through the steps of using Excel sheets for creating a universe.
