BusinessObjects Board

Unhandled exception

Hi Folks,

I have an object named ‘Notes’ which has ‘Long Text’ datatype in the designer. (BO didn’t allow to use ‘Text’ since the values of Notes are too long).
I picked up only this object in a BO report and ran it. Every time, I came up with the following error message:

Unhandled Exception
Code: c0000005
Description: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
‘Please report this issue to your local Business Objects Technical Support’

I also tried to run the same query after deleting all the .unv, .udo and .lov files on my local machine as was suggested in the BO-LISTSERV some months back, but again and again I am getting the same error message and everytime I have to abort the query.

In SQL*Plus or TOAD, I can run this query which fetches 33730 rows.

What is the reason with BO?
Any insight is welcome.

Thanks & Regards,
jay

Just wondered if you looked at the parameters for your universe. On the Controls tab there is a box checked by default that will limit the size of long text objects to 1000 characters. Adjust as needed.

Thanks Scott and Chris.

I was getting this problem in thick client BO 5.1.2
But the ZABO version 5.1.3 works fine.
Further, the maximum no. of characters of a single value of NOTE (long datatype) field is around 16000. I changed the long text limitation in BO to 16000 characters. Is it fine?
Chris, the resolutions by Nick Daniels in the likn which you sent me is REALLY SOMETHING…;-)…

Thanks & Regards,
jay
