Unable to refresh .xls based webi report from Infoview

I’m using XI R3 and unable to refresh webi report using other data provider .xls via Infoview.

I developed two webi reports using Webi Rich Client - The first one is schedule via Infoview to generate an .xls file and saves onto a shared network drive. The second one is using the .xls generated by the first one as an other data provider. The second report works fine if I refresh using Webi Rich client, but throwing an error when trying to refresh via Infoview “This document contains one or more local data sources that cannot be refreshed”. How to over come this issue.

If I remember, the Excel file seems to be embedded in the Report and refresh is not possible.
RichClient = Local post/local Excel file
Infoview = BO server : local post not accessible anymore (sometimes)

The solutions I used was to build a universe pointing to this file.

If I place the xls on the BO Server then can I access this to refresh via Infoview? If yes, then how to access this xls on the BO server via Webi in Infoview? Right now Other data provider option is not available in the Infoview Webi.

We can not use the Excel as Data provider in Webi.

Personal data files can’t be used in Webi.
