Unable To Open Webi Report via Infoview

We have a strange problem in that, we created a few set of reports, for one of our business groups. We are able to view the reports perfectly fine in Webi Rich client.
However, when we try to open the reports via Infoview, the reports just get hung, they take forever to open.
The report does not open on Infoview at all.
This is happening with all the users who are trying to open these set of reports in Infoview.

The same problem occurs when the reports are opened in IE, Firefox or Safari.

There are other reports in the same reposiotry under different folders and they seem to open up and refresh just fine.

I tried deleting the reports from the current folder and moved it to another folder, but still the reports do not open.

Can someone please throw some light on this?

Have you tried opening them with the Java panel and then saving them back, does that make any difference?

Hi Mak 1,

Thanks for your reply.
I don’t not get your solution. What do you mean by Java Panel?

Change the editor from Rich client, infoview preferences, to Java run time and try re saving a copy from there instead of rich client?

Does it make any difference?

Hi Mak 1,
Thanks again for your reply. Please check the attached screen shot of my preferences for the Webi. I have not changed any thing here and was facing that problem.

So, you didn’t create these docs in the Rich Client, originally?

Are you using supported Java and IE?

Is it happening to all your reports?

Hi Mak 1

  1. No those reports are all Webi created reports and not in Webi Rich Client
  2. Yes I do have all the supported Java and IE
  3. Yes this is happening to all the reports in webi, I can’t open any report

Ok, so is it a new installation of 3.0?

Did you migrate the reports in from another version?
Any changes to your environment that could have caused this?
Have these reports got data in them, are they large in size?
Have you tried to open them with the interactive viewer?

Hi Mak1,

  1. We had the new installation around 6months back
  2. NO it was completely developed in Webi
  3. Nothing have been done to environment
  4. Reports are not of large size at most would be 10pages
  5. Could not even open the Preference page

But from some time back onwards everything is working fine. Reports are opening, able to create new reports.

I am wondering why this has happen?
And what steps would be taken to prevent that from happening again

Change ur preferences in infoview to Java Report Panel and try to open .
If the report have ben created in webi rich client it will open other wise u have to convert the report to Webi through report coversion tool and try to open.
Or else import the same report in webi rich client and export them back to reporsitiry and try then…
Hope it will help u…

Hmm, well normally I would have laid my money on something changing :).

Can you open the reports on the server, directly?
Have you got plenty of disk space for the filestore and on the server?
Are all the services up and running on the BOXI machine?
Have you tried rebooting the server?

Hi Mak and others who are helping resolve this problem. Thanks.
I haven’t been able to check and respond earlier.

To take this further,

  1. I created these set of reports on Infoview portal initially. However, once, I was unable to open the reports on Infoview, I imported them via Webi rich client and refreshed the reports from the client installation and have been using them via Webi Rich client.

  2. This is happening for a set of reports alone. We have other reports in the same environment, which are accessible via Infoview.

  3. In preferences, we have Java panel set as the default view and we tried using IE, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and the same thing happened while viewing in all the browsers.

  4. I tried deleting the folder containing these reports and created a new one. Still the same problem persists.

This is really odd.

Have you tried opening them in the DHTML, interactive, viewer?
Are you sending them purged to the repository?
Have you any other environment to try them on?
Do you have any problems, when creating a new report against this universe?

I’m running out of things to suggest…:).
