Unable to launch Information Design Tool

Hi!

I have just installed client tools version 4.2 SP03FP03.

All the client tools seems to work but IDT.
When I launch the application, just nothing happens: no new process is created, no error, no screen, nothing.

I tried running a cmd line like this:
InformationDesignTool.exe > D:\out.txt

An the out.txt content is:
Aborting …

Do you know if there is any other way to investigate the issue?

I have seen some notes about changing the ini file to modify some memory parameters, but in this case I am not even getting an error in screen so I think the problem might be different.

I’ve had this issue numerous times (with 4.2 SP2). Try closing other applications, like Outlook, SSMS, etc, then try opening IDT. Other times, I got it to start by starting WebI Rich Client first, then IDT.

Hi,

Thanks for your answers. I solved the issue by modifiying the .ini file in the win32_x86 folder.

It was pointing at a wrong Java Path.

Hi,
I have the exact same issue ?I see many .ini files in this location .which ini file do I open and what do I do to set the Java Path right? Is it IDT ini file?If so below is what it looks like?where do I set the java path?Can you help detail?

I had a similar issue with IDT (4.2, SP 5). I ended up removing and re-installing the Client Tools.
