Unable to Connect to the Infostore

I went to add a new table to my universe in Universe Design Tool. But couldn’t do much. It’s giving me an error ‘unable to connect to the infostore’.

This is probably the first time I’ve used it since we switched to redirected folders. Could this be why?

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Check your connection - switch to using local middleware rather than server middleware if you currently don’t do so.

I can’t check my connection. It says ‘unable to connect to the infostore’ when I click edit.

I’m not sure what you mean by middleware but I’m using Universe Design Tool that’s installed on my PC.

Hi Skye,

Your universe will have a connection defined. Can you check that it test connects successfully to its target?

The universe itself works fine and reports work fine. I just can’t seem to do anything with it in Universe Design Tool. I also can’t edit the connection as I get an error when I try.

However, I’ve since discovered the option to create a new connection works. So I did that and that worked. It wouldn’t let me switch back to the original (I guess corrupt) connection. So I was forced to publish the universe with the new connection. Of course, after I adjusted the security on the new connection so people can use it.

Excellent - glad the connection proved to be the problem. It’s always concerned me that they get corrupted but at least the fix is simple enough.
