Turning Rows into Columns

Cindy?

I am not 100% understanding what it is you are trying to do, but if it similar
to a problem I had where I did not have data which could be used to create a
true cross tab in its content, but I wanted a cross tab style display, ie
column headings down the side, if this is what you wanted, here is the
solution I was given by BO Support:

All the best Andrew Hardy

Dear Mr Hardy

I have just received case 81487 (I am trying to format a report so that the
column headings are down the side instead of across the top) and I have the
following solution/information for you.

Firstly, this issue has been addressed within our next release of Business
Objects. Where it will be possible to perform such a change by the click of
a button.

In order to do this within version 4, however, the following workflow will
need to be followed:

Display data in a table or crosstab horizontally instead of vertically or
how to create a financial report from a BO tabular report

PROBLEM

When you want to display the results of a query horizontally instead of
vertically, have a look at this simple example. Please see the attached
report.

SOLUTION/EXAMPLE

  1. run a query with Quarter, Revenue and Number of guests.

  2. Highlight any part of the table
Go to the Pivot tab of Format Table
Move ‘Quarter’ from Body to Rows
Add (!) ‘Revenue’ and ‘Number of guests’ to Column (so do not remove Rev.
and Num. e.g… from the body)
    Click ok

  3. Highlight the body of the cross tab

From the ‘Report’ toolbar select ‘Insert Row Below’
Highlight the top row of the body and insert with the Formula
Editor
Highlight the bottom row of the body and insert with the
Formula Editor

  1. Delete the most left column of the crosstab
Insert NameOf() with the Formula Editor in the top row title
Insert NameOf() with the Formula Editor in the bottom row
    title

NOTES
In Business Objects version 5 you can do this with the push of a toolbar
button

This should help you to solve the issue that you are encountering. If
however, you have any further questions or queries with regards to this
issue, please do not hesitate to call me and reopen the case.
