TrendingDB Derby .dat files

Hi All,

I went through a lot of SAP tickets about the .dat files under Derby DB and nobody talks about how to clean these files, i wanted to know if its safe to delete those huge few GB files…
Will the APS re-generate them back after restart…

File Lcocation: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Data\TrendingDB\Derby\seg0

I changed the properties in CMC for a weekly clean-up already, but, the APS doesn’t delete the existing ones as they are too big.

Please advice.

Thanks,
-Wasy

Curious if it was safe to delete those large .dat files to cleanup disk space

Yes No issues you can delete the files. Instead of deleting one by one I would suggest deletes the data folder.

Please stop the SIA, rename the data folder and restart SIA you will see the new Data folder.

I think the derby database is used by the monitoring service (you can switch to another database if you want).

Yes, it is used for Monitoring.
We can change it to Audit DB. To change it to Audit DB, first we need to execute the script to create DB objects in the Audit DB and then in the CMC Applications, we can change it to Audit DB.

Thanks

Thanks Sreenu… Took backup of Derby folder instead under /Data/TrendingDB/ and then deleted that folder. It was regenerated once restarted server.
