I came across this suggestion, and I thought I’d share it:
Change Source, which is used often to remap a report to a different universe, can be used in another way.
You use change source not to “remap” to a different universe, but as a kind of global slice and dice panel for the entire report.
Dimensions laid out in a report may be, for example, exposing measures related to Product Level 3. You can use change source as a way to globally replace any column containing Product Level 3 with Product Level 4. Instead of manually doing this by sifting through a large report and one-by-one dragging and dropping the Level 4 dimension for swapping out the old, you do it once, centrally.
This is another huge maintenance benefit. You could imagine creating one report that uses aggregates and then duplicating that report, using change source, to swap out the next level down for a given set of dimensions.
