Hi,

Thanks for the information. Is there any other symbols I can use instead of Tick?
Thanks…

Work around - What are even going to do without this tantra

Save jpeg images of the sysmbols you are going to utilize in your alreters in a shared network folder.

  1. Create new variable objects for your symbols
tick mark=\\Path to shared folder\tick.jpg
Closed mark=\\Path to shared folder\closed.jpg
  1. Define your alerter and in operands section click the three dots to browse for objects and variables and select the [tick mark] variable and vice-versa.

  2. set the cell format to read as “Image URl”

PS: I tried with a cell content to display company logo in the report. Above steps are recommendation for conditional image display, havent tried it myself. Give it a try and let us know.

Maybe it’s just me, but the square root symbol looks pretty much like a tick – and it’s available in the default Arial font.
Would that do?

You can copy various symbols from charmap and paste in your webi report. Probably you can find tick mark there too

Hi Tom,
I would try that. I am on the alerter page and selected Arial , but how do I put the square root symbol in the formula editor.
Thanks…

On your Windows start menu go to Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map.
Scroll down and you’ll see the symbol.
Highlight it and click on ‘Select’ and then ‘Copy’. It is then in your clipboard ready to be pasted wherever you need it.

Hi Tom, That worked great, thanks…

Hi,

The character font ‘Wingdings 2’ has the TicK symbol.

For that, please type the P(use upper case) in the cell and change the font to Wingdings 2. This has the tick symbol.

I hope this helps you…

Can you explain where Wingdings 2 is in the Webi font list?

Hi,

By default that font won’t be there, I think you need add the information about the font in the defaultfont.xml file located inside the subfolder of Business Objects installation folder.

Exactly - the solution isn’t as straight forward as appears, especially if Wingdings 2 does not exist on the server.

a simple solution would be to use the below symbol in the webi variable.

="√"

It works.

(thats a squareroot symbol MS Word though)

Hi,

We were experiencing the same issue and your solution work perfectly using the supplied code √ and formatting as HTML

I’d like to know what each of the components stand for.

Is the & and indicator that this is hex code?

Is the # and indicator that the code starts here?

What is the 8730?

Am I on the right path or just so hopelssly lost.

Any help and explanation would be gratefully received.

Regards
Zinger
