Hello starting yesterday i get this message when trying to start a job in Designer:
‘The job server you selected is not working’
Has anyone else seen this problem ?
See below for details.
We are on 12.2.2.2
We have 3 working environments: Prod, QA, Dev.
I get this msg in all 3 environs when trying to start a job out of the Designer.
I CAN start a job in all 3 environs using the CMC though.
I log in using my personal id in Dev,
and a generic id for QA and Prod.
All our team uses the same generic logon id for both QA & Prod.
The other members of my team can login to each environ(D,Q,P) and run jobs, they logon using the generic logon id, the same as I do.
What that means is the job server is not down as the message says.
Plus jobs are running normally on their own out of scheduler.
This just started happening yesterday middle of the day.
Prior to that i had no probems.
I have not installed or re-installed my client prior to this happening.
Today i did un-install and re-install my client to see if that fixes the issue.
That did not fix it.
I am at a loss.
The other team members logon the same way I do, and they are not seeing this problem…
Has anyone else seen this probem before?
Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Okay so at the bottom right hand corner do you see the Job Server Icon?? Is that having a Cross Mark on it?
If so, then pull, Tools --> Options then goto Designer Tree and in Environment option goto the pane “Default Job Server”
What are the options you see over there? If none is available, then someway you are unregistered from the Job Server!!! Don’t ask why and how it happened!!
Now pull Data Services Server Manager and resynch your repository one or two times and come back and re-start designer. You should be on flow
By the way you are not at a loss by just losing the job server!!!
The job server icon does not have a check on it, so it is running.
I went into Tools/Options/Designer/Environment and the correct server id is there.
This problem appears to be associated with my client, and the others on my team are not having this issue.
And they logon to the same Q & P environs using the same generic id as i use (although we cannot all logon at the same time).
To your second suggestion, re-synch the repository.
"Data Services Server Manager and resynch your repository one or two times "
What do you mean by D.S Server Manager, and how to resynch ?
As far as logons, we all use the same environments/servers/network etc.
In Dev, we logon as our unique ids, but in Q & P there is only one logon in each, and we all share those.
Very strange issue, with no apparent cause or resolution.
if you hover over the jobServer icon on the status bar what the message you see on the status bar ? do you see error like “notification error” or job server not available …
since you know the jobserver is running, when you are trying to execute the job from Designer and get the error, go and check the jobserver’s server_eventlog_.txt file and check if you any errors related client notification (check the IP is that belongs to the designer which is having issue)
problem could be with the firewall blocking the communication between Designer and jobserver, is firewall enabled on the Designer machine ?
Yesterday I was working remotely, and had to dial-in to work, so that means going through the firewall.
I was able to run jobs out of the designer during that time.
Today I am back in the office, so within the firewall, and cannot run jobs out of the designer. Getting the same msg.
When I hover over the server icon, i see the msg: ‘notification server error’
I checked the server even logs, and I do see some entries that might be related this issue.
Two messages repeating from when i logged onto the machine, using the single generic id our entrie team uses for this platform (QAS/TEST):
BODI-850265
BODI-850264
Then while watching the log, and when i try to run a job (which cannot start due to the issue), it logs this msg:
BODI-850112
“IsScheduleValid:fails : ERROR while getting schedule informartion for schedule ID: 9. Error: The system cannot find the file specified.”
I am not adding a job to the scheduler, just opening a job and ‘Execute’.
