This topic is much like last years posting. its intended to be a place to discuss non conference activities to do while in Dallas Attending the 2009 GBN Conference.
We Might want to list things like
Food
Nightlife spots
Shopping
Concerts
Sporting events
Big Tex State Fair
Where to go to watch the Rams beat the Cowboys, oh wait that was last year. but you get what I am saying.
Here’s a nice sports bar we tried last year to watch the Sunday Football games: http://www.pointafternorth.com/
All the games, decent food, i’ll recommend it
Last year we had alot of traffic on this near the time of the conference. I hope that as it gets closer we get more ideas. especially from those local to Dallas! (you know who you are)
yes! our Six Flags out here in Los Angeles is always talking about going bankrupt so this may be a good time to get in all of the Six Flags trips we can…
Six Flags Corporate is filing for bankruptcy, but they claim it won’t affect the day-to-day operations of the parks. Six Flags Texas has quite a few roller coasters, including the famous Texas Giant, one of the largest wooden roller coasters still in operation. You can see it sway back and forth as people go by. They have the Titan, which is one of the top 10 tallest / fastest coasters in the world. They have Mr. Freeze which is quite a ride as it goes out and then back on the same track. One of the first roller coasters with a loop is here too. According to the wiki page on roller coaster records, Six Flags Texas has 13 different coasters.
Maybe the GBN can get conference attendees get some sort of discount for sunday day only? something like calling up Six Flags as saying
“hey we have about 2000 people coming in for conference and is there a way to offer them a discount or someting?” with no cost to the GBN of course
I would hate to put work on Melissa and her team as I know putting on the conference is enough as it is. But it may be a great chance to leverage the GBN size to get a discount as well.
While your at it how about 10% off at all resturants that have a GBN sign in the front window in the local area if you show your badge! ok now i am pushing it. (they did this on my cruise i just went on)
I have a season pass so I get a number of coupons for discounted entry tickets. I also have free (well, already paid-for) parking. And a really big truck.
