We have had problems in the past with production and testing universe, where the report appeared to be looking at the correct (testing) universe, but actually was connecting to the live universe. This only became apparent when we did added the following to a blank cell on the report:
=Connection(DataProvider(name of some object in the report))
This then showed us that the report was using the live connection, so all the fiddling we had done with the testing universe was in vain.
