wondering if you did all the parts?
install from CD first of course
in Excel - tools … add-ins …browse to BO folder and then add BQAPI.XLL
then BQ should show up on menu bar
just wondering if you made any headway on this. Is it possible that you have something set in Excel options to show only a partial menu and tool bar? I’ve done several installs of BQ and different versions of Windows and never had any problems. Also, are you logged in as local admin or power user (or whatever Windows calls it now) so that you have rights to modify?
No headway yet.
I’m logged in as a local administrator and I can’t seem to find any options restricting external add-ins to be seen. It’s also the first time I encounter this problem, before all installations went OK
BusinessQuery - at least the last time I worked with it - had to have the BusinessObjects application folder in the path. Since it involved a change to the environment, it required a reboot. That’s why I asked the question I asked earlier. 8)
Menu is not appearing between data and window in EXCEL when i select the BIQRY.dll. i’m using windows 2000 professional. i’m setting path in system variable like path = C:\program files\Business objects; %path%;
Hello,
I have the same problem on Windows 2003, Excel 2003 and BO6.5.1.
I load BQAPI.xLL in Excel with the addin menu and then no menu appear on the menu bar ?
I have been doing some intensive testing with a business query migration from version 5.1.6 to 6.5.1 and although Bus Obj says there is no migration procedures other than opening in the new version, they seemed to have not done their homework with *.bqy files that are migrated to a new 6.5.1 repository that was not upgraded from a prior version. I have written a migration tool for the *.bqy files that I will post on BoB later, but for purposes of this thread I though I would give you some insight to my testing.
The problem you are experiencing with BusQuery menu not appearing can be related to the fact the BQ was not installed during the original installation of Business Objects. In most cases of installing BQ before BO was install or if BQ was installed as a ‘modify’ of the installation later, there were problems in Excel.
My original task was to try and load BQ with Zabo only and not FC. I came close (obtained a login screen during load), but failed to get any further with version 6.5.1.
Anyway, on one machine, I had to go as far as uninstalling BQ with the Resolutions previously mentioned, uninstalling BO, reinstalling everything and then I had to send a packed workbook to the machine and unpack it before I could get it to work properly. The long and the short of it… if you plan to use BQ you better load it at the time of the original installation.
If you have specific questions regarding my testing, please let me know and I will try to answer.
