Temporary values in Custom Sort

Hi everybody,
I need to demonstrate to somebody how temporary values in the Custom Sort dialog box work. How do I go about this?
I read through Temporary value added to Custom sort do not appear in report
but didn’t manage to understand much.

Appreciate all of your thoughts and inputs.
(Btw…I’m using Web Intelligence XI 3.1)

Hi rahul

When I deliver training to my customers, I use the day of week scenario.
In my time class I have a day of week object.
My data hold figures applied for each day of the week over a two year period.

I build a query for
‘Day of week’, Area 1, measure 1
I apply a query filter to exclude day of week of ‘Monday’.
Run the query.

  • I apply a custom sort to Day of Week (Sunday to Saturday) noting that Monday is not in the list of values to sort.

  • I then remover the query filter and see that now the data includes Monday but the column is now not sorted correctly.
    (Monday appears at the bottom of the sort order)

  • I reapply the query filter and run

  • I reapply the custom sort, but this time add a Temporary value of Monday.

Remove the query filter et voila, the sort now handles all days including Monday.
