Template for BO Report Test Case

Hi All,

We are in the midst of our XIR2 migration. I am trying to get an idea of what is involved in testing the migrated documents. Before people start telling me it’s like asking how long is a piece of string, I know that every report will require different testing depending on what features are in the report and whether it is being just migrated or converted to WEBI as well.

However, i was hoping somebody out there would be willing to share a templete which i can customise for our reports. Or if anyone can suggest a list of tasks that should be included in a test plan, i would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Gina

Hi gina,
Did you get any inputs on your question? Could you please share a template if you got one? I’m in a similar situation where I’d have to do system & regression testing for a set of Webi reports. Thanks!

I think this is what we used. Or something similar.

Not that it was much use. Found that even though all the tests were completed. Lots of issues were found in the month or two after migration.
Testing by users seemed to be a tick the box exercise rather than actually looking for issues in the data.

We went a few steps further and asked our business areas to identify their mission critical reports and then had them do compares of the old and the new. This way we were able to test 15%-20% of our reports.

Some of our heavily used reports are also usually delivered in PDF format so we relied heavily on a PDF compare tool for those too.

Gathering this list also allowed us a good selection for our unit testing before we began any UAT.
