Table disappears in derived universe

Can anyone help me with this please

I created a derived universe in Designer 11.5.0.0. The Derived universe is linked to 4 core universes. I want to add a table to my derived universe. BUT it keeps disappearing.

I did the following
• Imported the universe
• Re-inserted the disappearing table
• Attached the objects to the table
• Added the joins
• Exported the universe
• Closed the universe
• Re-imported it - the table I just added is NOT in the universe that I just imported.

So I tried the following
• Deleted all of the objects related to the table
• Re-inserted the table that disappeared
• Re-created the objects and the joins
• Exported
• Closed the universe
• Imported the universe AND the table is gone AGAIN!

That’s strange. It is difficult to directly shoot this issue. It looks to me that the universe is not exported… I mean the universe not updated correctly in the repository(or CMS database).

You may have to try different alternatives:
–Can you try the same thing from another machine ?
–Try installing the software again on the problem machine !
– Check for database connectivity…

It’s always a good idea to tell folks which version of BusinessObjects you are using (including any service packs, CHFs, bug fixes, whatever they’re called in the various versions).

After you export – before you re-import – if you open the universe, are the joins there?

If you’re on a pre-XI version, has anyone recently migrated/copied your repository? Because you can get really weird results if this isn’t done correctly, and you have cross-linked repositories.

And how are you saying that the table doesnt exist, by just seeing the tables on the right pane.
Can you check the table browser from insert-table menu, is the table in question checked with green. Are you also creating a class or dropping objects in existing classes from this table, check it manually by expanding and also by clicking ‘view list mode’ button

.

Hi

The one more workaround is to save the universe in the local drive, do the necessary changes on that and export the universe to the repository, do the import and check whether the newly added tables with the class and objects existing in the unvierse?

Thank you all for your input.

I should have mentioned that I am working with a derived universe. I discovered later in the day that if I added the table to one of the master universes that I was linking to, the table didn’t disappear.

But - does this mean that you can’t add a table to a derived universe?

I using Designer 11.5.00 with a DB2 database.

Thanks
