On top of it, please try a search on BOB (or look at FAQ Designer), suggested keyword: synchroniz*

they are not necessarily a bad thing and you may not want to avoid them; however, if you are seeing synchronized queries where they are not expected you might want to check any context that may exist or the existance of fan/chasm traps. In the Universe Parmaters SQL tab you can define the advanced options for generating queries but first it is very important you understand why you are generating synchronized queries.

They are not ALWAYS a bad thing; but usually they are a mistake.
You can only avoid them to a point. If you have contexts and are not using queries that are dimensionally equivalent, you’ll get the problem.
