strange log files in %TEMP% from BO Full Client

Hello,

We’re using BO 6.5.4 on Windows 2000. We noticed that on our WebI servers there are absolutely huge files in the %TEMP% directory with file names like “busobj-.log”, where is the process ID of each busobj.exe on the server.

The content of these files is NOT what one would expect to see in a trace log file for BUSOBJ.EXE – some of it is a bit similar but it’s clearly not the same code. A few example lines from one such file is:

~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|>|ScriptApplicationEngine::SetPrivate1|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|<|ScriptApplicationEngine::SetPrivate1|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|>|ScriptApplicationEngine::SetPrivate4|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|<|ScriptApplicationEngine::SetPrivate4|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|>|ScriptApplicationEngine::SetInstallDirectory|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|t|set local data directory to = D:\BODATA\nodes\nldn8506pap\NLDN8506PAP\temp\bomanager\BOMgr\bcs\nldn8506pap_5844_6316_2595306_7|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|t|SetInstallDirectory is successful|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|<|ScriptApplicationEngine::SetInstallDirectory|~
~|ObjectModel|0|01/09/08|17:20:00|7228|3424|>|ScriptApplicationEngine::SetInstallDirectory|~

etc., etc.

It looks to me like this is some kind of logging showing what busobj.exe is doing, when you run it in “headless” mode. However we only see these files on one of our production machines, and this machine is extraordinarily slow. the Windows Monitoring tool is showing that the system’s disks are working at 100% whenever scheduled BO full client reports are running – and not coincidentally, the size of these busobj-nnn.exe files explodes during such times – a few have grown to over 500 Mb.

Does anyone have any idea what these files are, and if you can suppress them? Or alternatively, is their size a function of what a particular report is “doing” ?

Regards,

I have same issue now… can anybody help me on this too?

On 6.x, I think you can control those logs with the BO_TRACE.ini file - if it exists, it’s going to try and log. Can you find and rename / delete that file on this server?

If you find it, post the contents here, I would help you tweak it / explain what it was doing - if you don’t find it, I’d look in the registry for logging for the bomgr process.

I’m a little rusty on 6.5 now, but I think I’m on the right track…

HI

If it possible pls try to re-boot your server after stopping all your services and WEBI Server. Then this issue may resolve.

Issue: Some times due to some network reasons few process will keep on run( looping ) and these process may stop when you have take server Re-boot.

Thanks
