Starting BQ - Strange menu appears

Hi

I tried to start BQ (BO 6.0) on an NT workstation with Excel 97. It’s been a while since I used BQ, but the reaction Excel gave is weird (see attachment).

It creates a space in the menu between Data and Window. When you click on this space, it opens up the menu which contains various blank items, some of which have sub-menu, also blank. The basic framework is how BQ should be - menu in correct place, right number of menu items and the items with sub-menus are also in the correct place. However the menu items do not work.

Any ideas? I’ve tried removing BO from the client, reinstalling etc, but nothing seems to help.

Thanks

Bizarre! Did it ever work or have you only had it working in a previous version of BO?

in this company, they have never had BQ. I’ve tried installing it here, but this is the closest I’ve managed to get to it working. All previousl attempts have not even got this far. I can’t help but wonder whether BO 6 is even supposed to work with NT.

Did you check if your configuration is in Business Objects PAR (requiere valid login/pwd to access BO techsupport)

Thanks Bernard

I looked up the PAR and BO 6 is supported with NT andExcel 97. I guess that’s not my problem.

Then, it is very strange…

What release of Bo do you have exactly ? 6.0 ? 6.1.a, 6.1.b, 6.1.3 ?

because first release of BO 6 have TONS of bugs then i suggest you to migrate to 6.1.3 or 6.5.1 and check if your problem is still here. In this case, open a BO case on techsupport.

Hi

We are currently using BO 6.1b but I installed BO 6.0 client on the workstation (only version i have on cd). I need a client version of 6 on the machine in order to run BQ. The users use BO via Citrix, so they do not have any BO locally on their machines. Thanks to the Citrix configurations, I cannot use BQ via Citrix, so I’m trying to figure out another way of letting the users access it.

I cannot contact BO Support because, as soon as they hear that we are using Citrix, they say “not supported - upgrade” and close my cases, even it it has nothing to do with Citrix.

Thanks
