SSAS and WEBI Performance

We have a SSAS 2005 cube. Three simple hierarchies and some measures. We created a Universe against this cube and we are trying to use WEBI to cerate reports against this cube. We are finding that the performance is DISMAL to say the least. Sometimes, the queries can take longer than 15 minutes to just retrieve the data for the top level of the three hierarchies and just 2-3 measures from the same meaure group. The same amount of data, using something like proclarity, is there almost instantly.

The Universe we are using is pretty much the default that Designer generates.

Would love to hear some feedback from those who are using WEBI with SSAS 2005 as the data source, especially around their eperience where performance is concerned.

We created a Universe against the raw data in the database instead of the cube – and it works like a charm.

Thanks!

We’ve got two universes against MSAS 2005, both using Webi. The kind of performance issue you’re talking about, if it is still an issue, sounds like a communication problem between MSAS and BO. Have you resolved it? We discovered a patch applied to MSAS was messing up the conneciton, occurred when the cube and universe were sitting on the same box. Otherwise, it works fine.

Did you get your WebI working against SSAS 2005 cube? We are having the same problem and I was wondering if you resolved it.

Thanks!
