First off, we just moved our database server to a more powerful server with more memory and processors. We’ve also moved to Windows 2003 and SP4. Since the move we’ve experienced a major decrease in performance with WEBI and Full Client reporting. For example: sessions are locking when users try to sign off of WEBI, report refresh time has increased significantly, some reports that worked before just hang, and we’ve had to reboot WEBI 3 times already this week.
I believe this is a database server problem and not a BO problem. Our DBA is thinking about switching back to Windows 2000.
Has anyone else had similar problems with Windows 2003 and SP4?
Just to be clear – it is only your database server that has moved to Windows 2003 / SP4 (there’s an SP4 for Windows 2003?)?. You have not changed your WebI server at all, is that right?
Also – you should specify which version of BusinessObjects / WebI that you’re talking about. Then, someone may be able to give you better advice.
Finally – I’m moving this topic from the Designer forum (which is for questions about building universes in the Designer module) to the General Discussion forum.
Thanks for your replies, and I apologize for the lack of information!
We upgraded to SP4 of SQL Server. We’re running BO 6.51. After speaking to BO tech support on Friday I found out the SP4 of SQL Server is not supported. Prior to this upgrade, we had moved our DB server to a new server with Windows 2003. Everything was running fine up until SP4 was installed for SQL Server. Microsoft recommended doing the upgrade. Since then we’ve found SQL Server forums with users experiencing the same issues.
Our WEBI server was also upgraded/moved to a new server with Windows 2003/IIS 6. BO tech support had me install a hot fix for BO 6.51 that fixed a bug with runaway busobj.exe processes.
I hope this is enough information, and thank you very much for your help!!!
