SQL Server Repository Question

Our DBAs caught an error message this morning originating from our development repository. The error indicated a clustered index was missing, and we’ve been unable to confirm or deny the validity of the message. What I need to know is if the OBJ_M_CONNECTDATA table should have a clustered index.

I called BusObj tech support and asked them “Should the OBJ_M_CONNECTDATA table have a clustered index?” Their responses were less than satisfactory (see below for a summary of our conversation), so I’m turning to the experts here for assistance.

Thanks for the help,

In case you’re interested in hearing someone elses struggles with Business Objects Tech Support, after putting me on hold for about 5 minutes, their first response was, “Yes, some of our tables do have indexes.” I asked the question again, putting more emphasis on the table name and the index type. After another 5 minutes on hold, their second response was “Yes, some of our tables do have clustered indexes.” Not believing what I was hearing, I asked a third time. After yet another 5 minutes on hold, their third response was “No one here knows what kind of indexes we have. If you do a new installation and create a new repository, you can save the scripts that were run and maybe that will help.” They just called back to let me know that they tried that last suggestion and could tell me definitively that the installation “creates a unique index on that table.”
