I know it isn’t listed in the Support Platforms for Business Objects to support Snowflake databases, but has anyone tried it? Could the Generic ODBC or Generic JDBC middleware be used to connect?
I will let you know in a day or two

This is my second day of trying. Nothing has worked so far.
How close have you got? What error messages?

I am able to get it work on a client machine. I can’t get it to work from our Business Objects servers. They do use different proxies so I think the problem is in the proxy settings. Our network guy says he can see it connecting but there is still something it doesn’t like.
The error that we are getting is
failed: CURLerror (curl_easy_perform() failed) - code=35 msg='SSL connecterror'.
We were finally able to get the Universe Design Tool to connect to Snowflake from one of our servers. The problem was our domain account that was running the SIA was not configured to use the appropriate proxy settings. We had to run Internet Explorer as the service account and set the proxy settings to the appropriate ones in order to connect.
Once we made this change, everything works. We have successfully created a universe and a Web Intelligence report against Snowflake using the Generic ODBC3 middleware.
Great news…and thanks for coming back to tell us the details.

Hi Johnbclark, Could you provide the high level steps to get BOBJ to SF setup and connected?

bryanl, I’m not sure what else you are looking for.
We created an ODBC connection using the Snowflake driver.
We created a Generic ODBC3 middleware universe connection to the snowflake server.
We had to run Internet Explorer on our BI Servers as the domain account running our SIA and set up proxy settings to allow the domain account to pass through our firewall and access the snowflake database.
I don’t know what might have been done on the snowflake end other than they set up a login ID. We don’t deal with the database end of the connections.
Hi
Starting with SP8 snowflake is fully supported now
