Single/double monitor issues again.....

Stupid time… 4.1 designer and I thought it was the usual issue of working on a dual monitor ands switching to a laptop. But it isn’t. Tried the tricks to move the sub-screen back and there isn’t a sub-screen.

Just trying to access the object properties - no pop-up. I can get a pop-up to format the object, but when I double-click or right click to get at object properties - zilch.

Any bright ideas? I’m sure it will be something very straightforward!

Debbie

ETA: And I’ve read all the old posts on here and tried everything bar a registry hack which I’m not comfortable with. Google shows me lots of ways (in windows 10) to see what windows are open - and the properties sub-window isn’t open. So it’s not hiding - it just isn’t there! :hb:

Hi Debbie,

Hope all’s well with you (apart from this!)

When you invoke it, hold down Alt and tap the space bar. Let go of Alt and press M.

Now use the arrow keys - hold different ones down for a while to try and move it.

If that doesn’t work, repeat with R instead of M then try again with M:
R = Restore
M = Move

Hi Mark

Keeping on keeping on. Maintaining existing stuff while we move forwards with Microsoft…

Tried all the Alt-M tricks. Rebooted etc. No joy. There doesn’t appear to be a pop-up to move …

It’ll ait until I’m back in the office on Thursday and I’ll try on double monitors, which will prove it one way or another!

Cheers

No BO in sight here either. Currently most of my work is backend on SSIS and data warehouse design; reporting is SSRS/PowerBI as with many places these days. PowerBI seems good but SSRS is as clunky as Crystal. :frowning:

Yep. I’m working on SSIS mostly - again with PBI and SSRS end-tools. To be fair, the users are loving PBI so far. SSRS will be … interesting … and involve a rethink of job roles here, I suspect.

Interesting times!

FIXED IT!

And it was another manifestation of double-monitor-syndrome. Not consistent, since the format pop-up was fine.

Didn’t fancy registry-hacking and I didn’t want to mess with the display set-up as it takes me ages to get the different monitors and resolutions in the right order when I’m in the office … so …

I changed the SIZE of my display in windows 10 settings. Not the resolution - just the size. Made everything smaller and there was the offending pop-up, lurking innocently in the top corner. Dragged it back, smacked it hard and chained it up. Sized back up again and we’re fine.

I found that pressing the windows button + left shift + arrows (left or right usually works), makes the pop-up come back to the center of the window
