Sia unexpected shutdown, how to investigate?

Hi,

I´m new to BO and I was wondering how to investigate unexpexted shutdowns of the SIA server ? We had a problem were all services were stopped, starting with Server Intelligence Agent. I checked the event viewer but could not find a reason why, it only mentioned Server Intelligence Agent is stopping. The events before this are transport errors but according to google these are generic and can be caused by a number of things.
Tried checking the BO logging but the entries in the log files are not very clear.
Can you advice me what log files to check or what entries to find in the event viewer ?

Thanks a lot.

hi

it’s a new install or an old install?

check if your CMSXI repository is not in network failure (if it’s not on the same machine)

have you KB windows installed recently?

Hi,

Thank you for the response, it´s not a new install. CMS DB is on other machine but did not report any network faillures.
There were no recent KB installations I can blame  .
Everything has been running fine all day, I just find it annoying that I don´t know what caused the stopping of all the services last night :frowning: .

Is there any batch scirpt for SIA restart in the system?

Is your database Oracle? I ask because I had a simple script to monitor Oracle overnight, when I had issues - basically just

and I ran that all nite, delaying a little between pings. I found pretty quickly that our database would go down for a backup during the night, and CMS (SIA) would not recover. I added a job to stop and start my SIA around 2am, and I was good after that. After showing my log to our dba, he gave me a better schedule of their backups and maintenance.

Just a thought - your db guys may be looking for problems, ignoring standard jobs not knowing BO wants a constant connection (not just running pass thru SQL).

Good luck!

Hi,

We do bring the servers down for backup and then start them again after this is done. I suspect that there was a problem with this startup. So far the problem hasn´t returned so hopefully it was just a one-time glitch. .
