Sharepoint PIK 2007 installation issues

Hi all,

I’m fairly new to BO and SharePoint, and been trying to install the BO XI PIK on to the SharePoint 2007 server and having some issues, hope you guys can shed some light.

I want to test out the SharePoint 2007 integration with BO XI R2, both products are on sepearate servers.

I have followed the installation guide and installed BOE XI R2 .Net SDK on to the SharePoint server, however when I tried to install the PIK I get this error message:

“SP3 Patch is required to install the SharePoint 2007 Integration Kit”

#Assumption, by ‘SP3 Patch’, I am assuming it is requesting a BO XI R2 SP3…please correct me if im wrong!

From reading the PIK installation guide, the system requirements specified BOE SP3, but its pre-requisit is BOE SP2. However this was also noted in the guide:

“Your SharePoint deployment can be on a different machine from your
BusinessObjects Enterprise machine or machines. In addition, the
BusinessObjects XI SharePoint 2007 Portal Integration Kit can be deployed
to multiple SharePoint servers.”

I have tried to install the SP3 alone on to the SharePoint server, but it wouldn’t install as it needs the full version of BOE.

My questions are:

  1. Do I need to install the full version of BOE (with SP4 being the latest) on to the SharePoint server before installing the PIK?

  2. Following from question 1, other than the XI .Net SDK, do I need to install any other BO products on to the SharePoint server??

I just don’t see why I need to install so much BO application on to the SharePoint server in order for it to talk to the BO XI server…any guidance would be much appreciated!

I’ve been trying to get the PIK working, let me take a stab at this. Both SP3 and SP4 are supported. SP2 is not. There is no full version of SP3 available - so you would have to do full install of SP2 and then upgrade to SP3. Make sure this version matches that of your CMC.

The required components are the .NET SDK and WCA. Do a custom install and remove other services (CMS, RAS, etc). Make sure to select ‘Web Component Adapter’. Also make sure to not install Tomcat by accident.
