I’m wondering if anyone has found any documented server sizing recommendations. I’ve seen various posts which mention the deployment guide and/or the recommended settings guide… but i’ve looked at these and can’t find anything useful (for version 6.5). The deployment guide talks about the importance of server sizing but seems to conclude that ‘you can determine what server configuration best supports your end-user population only by trial and error’ (page 132). Any thoughts?
are u sur you don’t find the answer in Bo books ? If I remeber well; they was in v5.x some informations on the way of sizing server. So, I can’t imagine it is no longuer included in pdf. In v5.x, they was also a xls worksheet with formula to quickly sizing mem and processor depending on users, nb of rep files, etc, perhaps it’s existe the same thing in v6.x
well… i’ve had a good look through the server sizing section in the deployment guide in the section titled “Capacity Planning” on page 132. There are a few paragraphs here on the importance of capacity planning but no guidelines. Furthermore, looking at some other posts on the issue it seems that 6.5 is either 15% less efficient than 2.7 or twice as effecient as 2.7 depending on who you believe.
