Server Intelligence Agent Shuts Down Frequently

Hello All,
We are running BO XI 3.1 on Windows server, Server Intelligence Agent Shuts Down frequently without meaningful error message.

  1. Initially I thought it is due to heavy load on the server, so did some stress testing but couldn’t bring it down.
  2. I thought it could be due to some patches but that isn’t the case either.

Users are getting “server not found or server may be down error (FWM 01003) null” message, when the server is down and I manually restart the server intelligence agent, then they are good for a while and it goes down again.

I would really appreciate your help to resolve this issue.

Thanks
Gopal

I would start looking into my log file. If you are using Windows look into the event logs. In there you can find most reasons why there are failures

Event Viewer dosent give me any meaningful error message, this is the error message I can see in Event Viewer,

  1. Server Intelligence Agent is stopping.
  2. Server Intelligence Agent is requesting server MUNBOEDEV1.ConnectionServer to terminate.
  3. Server Intelligence Agent: server MUNBOEDEV1.CentralManagementServer stopped with exit code = 0 (0x0).

and more message tied to each service like Job server, Event Server, etc. The sequence is, Server Intelligence Agent stops first and all the subsequent service stops after that, which makes sense, since Server Intelligence Agent conrolls all the other services, what dosent make sense is that, why Server Intelligence Agent stopping suddenly???

Thanks,
Gopal

In the past fI have noticed that when there is no good connection to the system database SIA can go down without many errors. Do you know if there are any issues with the connection to the system database?

I talked to my Windows Server Admin about this issue, he looked at the event viewer and saw two errors that happend before this service goes down every time,

  1. Error caused by “crypt32”, this process was trying to download some update and failing
  2. There was some Symantec Scanner, trying to scan the BOE folders and comes up with some error.

He added BOE folder to safe list and stopped the “crypt32” process, after this change, we didn’t have any down time so far (it is been about 5 days).

I will check the connection as well to make sure, that is not the cause.

Thanks for all your help
Gopal
