selecting monthly sales :data is at date level

hi,
the data base is having data at date level.
we need to show the monthly sales in a report. How do I achieve this.

I need to create new objects in the universe, but iam unable to get an idea on how to implement it.

Hi,

Typically, the month object is created based on the (transaction) date column of a table using your database date function(s).

Such functions are database specific so we can help you move on if you tell us which database you use.
