Security Issue

Hi

I am a new user of BusinessObjects and I face a problem with the security management.

Maybe it’s very easy, but I’m a student and my teacher don’t explain very well so…

I wish the “Group 1” to have access to a folder, everyone else should not see this folder.
I put the access rights “View” to the “Group 1” on the folder, and they can see it. But when I restrict the rights of the group “Everyone”, they are not able anymore. I assume that is because “Group 1” is part of Everyone…

Can you help me about that ?

Thank you very much

Welcome to B  B.You need to give the rights as follows.
Rights on Root folder/All folder:
Administrators:Full control
Everyone :No access

Rights on the required folder:
Administrators:Full control
Everyone :No access
Group 1 : View

The rights for the required folder should be inherited from the one set on the root folder…

Instead of view, view on demand should be better allowing your users to also refresh the reports …

Thank you for your help

Ok for “View on demand”.

In fact, I already tried what you’ve suggested Arjun. With this configuration, my problem was that the Group 1 didn’t see any folder at all when he was connected on the CMC, the icon “Folder” was not even visible. Do you know why ?

:yesnod: I forgot to say this.

You need to login to infoview/deski to access the reports/folders with the user.
If you want to see the user from CMC, you need give the access to CMC also[/quote]

Thank you very much  I’m gonna try this !

Arjun, I still have some problems with the security, it seems that it doesn’t work. Can I join you by mail/msn ? It’s quite new for me and I have some questions :expressionless:

That defeats the purpose of the forum, post your questions here, please.

What is the error you are getting? I think you forgot to give the access for the user in various levels.
to Universe connection,
to universe…
Did you give the access for the above mentioned.

I think I found what was missing in fact.
In InfoView, I still wasn’t able to see any folder, connected as a user of Group 1.
Then I try to put “view objects” on the root folder for Everyone, but not applied to sub folders. And my Group 1 was the able to see the required folder.
Did I do the right think ?

ok, Now go to Report folders
select required folder for ex: ABC folder.
Add the group1 at manage user security option,
and give the view on demand/advanced rights for group1.

Ok I did this, it works perfectly  Thanks for your help.
