Security and XI

HI

Can somebody explain me how to create groups / users and assign rights.
Precisely what am looking for is to create multiple groups, like

Designers - who can create universe and export
Report Designers - Who can create reports
Report Viewers - Who can view and refresh reports

any inputs on how to go about this will be greatly helpful

thanks in advance

It’s all done through the CMC. Once you log in, it seems pretty self-explanatory. However, there is also extensive documentation available from BO, as well as classes.

Are the rights asignment is thro’ profiles ? How exactly it is done ? I am facing the same issue ?

Thanks in advance.

Have you read the documentation? Keep in mind that this forum isn’t here to train people on how to use the products. The purpose of BOB is to allow users to help each other resolve issues or solve problems. These questions are far too broad to be explained in this forum. The related documentation contains all the instructions that you need.

Hey Michael,

I very well know the purpose of the forum. Thanks and tone down. [Admin Edit – Michael does not need to “tone down” – what he’s stated is exactly “with the program” – Bobarella]

I am missing out on some perticular setting in CMC due to which the WebI document creation rights are disabled.

And I need to know whether there is any predefined profile available to fix this.

I am not able to get access to document at this moment.

Can the issue get solved ?

Regards,

In the CMC you will see a link for groups. Click on that and click Add. This is where you create the group. For the different Objects with the the CMC you will need to assign these rights to this group, or it will inherit the defaults. This is a lot different from Supervisor, but also allows for a lot more flexibility. As Michael read the Admin.pdf which covers this in a lot more detail.

 I think the issue is that the questions need to be more specific. It could take hours for someone to give you the detailed answer you are looking for.
