Help…brand new installation of BO XI R2 SP4 Premium. The problem is any report scheduled in InfoView stays Pending, I can view the report by clicking on the report name, but schedule it for any time or Now and it just sits at pending.
I have searched the forum and tried the suggestions (restarted any and every server, increased the -timeout, etc…) with no luck.
Anyone else had this issue and had any luck resolving it please enlighten me…
Yep, I have stopped and restarted and made sure they were enabled any server that included the word “job”. So that means the Crystal Reports Job Server, the Desktop Intelligence Job Server, the Destination Job Server, the List of Values Job Server, the Program Job Server and the Web Intellignence Job Server.
I have the same exact situation as you have right now, except that it is not a brand new installation (I am on an existing BO XI R2 SP3 install), however, since last Monday nothing will run under the scheduler (neither “now” or recurring schedules). I was able to log a trouble ticket with BO/SAP tech support yesterday and an engineer is working with me on it. We tried to set up a webex session, however, recent security lockdowns on my side are preventing the webex session from running successfully so we are having to pass screenshots and log files via e-mail. As I get updates to my case I will post them up here as well. So far nothing has transpired from the tech support side, yet.
Thanks John…appreciate any help anyone can provide.
Seems odd that an existing build that was working would stop working…we have also recently had some security lockdowns around here that are causing issues with me running Crystal Reports designer on my local machine - the List of Values keeps returning CORBA errors - least of my worries…
okay, in record time, Tech Support was able to assist me with my problem. Your observation about my established deployment having had developed a problem as such sounded wierd, and it was wierd. Last Monday upon coming to work we discovered that the database server was stuck in single-user mode (hence CMS could not access), so once we had the database brought out of single-user mode I noticed that all of the 12 underlying services we need to run XI were disabled (only CMS was now running), and when I tried to enablie them it yielded an entry in the app viewer log “Fail to register with the nameserver”. After I researched the problem I discovered that I needed to apply the instructions found in SAP Note #1199817 (essentially, add and start the services, delete the duplicate services). Nobody in Network Ops was fessing up to anything they changed over the weekend, but I think somehow they implemented a new server naming convention and didn’t tell the application administrators. Well I must’ve muffed adding and starting one of the servers (namely the WebIntelligenceJobServer) because that is what Jagdish walked me through in re-building, and voila, our reports we want to run via Scheduler are once again working. Now how all of this helps you, I don’t know, other than you need to ensure that all services are starting correctly and they you’ve got a valid install. Jagdish confirmed my problem by comparing the entries in the CCM to what was showing up (or not showing up) in the CMC. You can try the same thing, and reviewe the app event viewer and adding -trace to some of your services and reading the BO logs. If you still come up empty, then it may be time to contact Tech Support.
we just had similar problem with scheduling full client docs when upgrading SP 2.4 to 3.6 with a reinstall and changing the services to run as domain user.
Changing back the users to local system for full client report and job services resolved the problem - since it was only about fc docs, not sure you have the same issue…
Hey guys I have got the same problem. I have just installed Business Objects XI R2 Premium with SP4. Thanks to the farce with productivity pack, I ahd to install a BO SP2 + PROD pack and then patch up to SP4. I then imported all content and security from an old copy of XI R2 with no SPs using the Import Wizard.
The system was working fine last night but today it decides it doesn’t want to run a Crystal Report schedules apart from the odd one very occaisional. Reports can be and instances can still be viewed and run fine. I thought the problem affected all report types but it seems that Webi schedules do run, just not immediatley.
I have tried rebooting the server, different licence keys, added an addiotnal Report Job server, disabling and enabling the job server. Adding more memory to the server and adding a new CMS server does nothing
From observation the server is not under any load and copes fine with reports running on demand, it just seems it can’t be bothered to run scheduled reports.
The only change to the newtork is a DNS entry was added with the name of the old server pointing to the new one. Could this affect it?
I am gonna try setting a blank sys db and file store and just to see if the product works at all?
I have logged a call with BO to help but I am awaiting a response tomorrow.
Thanks for your reply jsanzone, I was going to setup a trace on the CMS and Crystal Job Server.
However, I managed to get the reports to run by setting the Crystal Reports Job Server maximum job setting from to 100 (yeah I know its way above sizing figures). It seems that I can’t set the maximum jobs below roughly 20 as the job server won’t run the reports. I am actually only trying to run 1 report yet I have to set the maximum jobs to over 20 just to get 1 to run. Has anybody experienced anything like this? It only affects Crystal, could the Import Wizard screw this up as I did migrate all content from another server using the update option?
My contacts tell me that VERY recently Business Objects has determined that there is an issue with SP4 (Service Pack 4) that causes some CMS to lose communications with their job servers.
I am told this is being corrected in the future Fix Pack 4.5 (FP 4.5); however, BO has a DLL that solves the issue. Contact BO Support and your BO Account manager if you want to get this issue fixed.
UPDATE: another resource has a bit more information on this issue and also has a link to a fixed DLL for this Business Objects XIR2 SP4 Bug.
No, not in our case. Well actually all of our scheduled WebI reports, with and without events, all of them were in pending status (including newly scheduled ones too). The stange thing was that DeskI and Crystal Reports could be scheduled just fine. The patch from BO fixed this issue though on our CMS servers.
