SAP Data Services - IPS vs. BusinessObject Enterprise Server

Hello Everyone,

I only want to use the SAP Data Service with the Data Integrator.

I found the information that is it enough, to install the Information Platform Services and then the Data Service.

But I found also the information, that you should install the BusinessObjects Enterprise Server to use all possibilities of the Data Service.

For example:
The Meta-Data-Integrator should only selectable in the Data Server Setup, if you installed the BusinessObject Enterprise Server.

Does anyone have an experience with this?

If you’re only using Data Services without using any of the BusinessObjects reporting tools - then you only need to use IPS. If you want to link the metadata between the BODS Jobs & Objects, Universes and Web Intelligence reports than the integration with BOE will be required (for the meta data exchange to work).

When you have your BODS and BOE environments “hooked up”, you can view the data lineage from your source systems, through your ETL, the universes and reporting objects.
