I have a bit complex dashboard w.r.t. large amount of data using excel dump and indexing formulas applied. Now, user wants me to include date range filter and Quarter, i.e. based on the doc date field - user should be able to view data between particular date range, or select All / specific quarter to view data.
Somehow I managed to flag those records that fall in From and To date range. However, I am confused on how to filter this data. In addition, how Quarters will work.
First step is adding a field to your source data for the quarter. That will make the later steps far easier.
How are you getting this data into the dashboard? Are you basing it on a WebI report? QaaWS to a universe? XML?
Any of the connection types you are likely to be using should have an option for filtering the data. Look at the input values for the connection. If you are using a web service, you may need to configure it to expose a filter field.
