Reset Password Access Only

Hi Gurus,

I am looking forward for:
How we can grant a Group P access to only Reset Password for users. This group users should be able to see all the users who are in the CMC.
Till now I have acheived few steps as:

  • The Group P user is able to log in to CMC
  • He is able to see all the users
  • But the Password and its related fields are all grayed out :hb:

We are on BOXIR2, I have given rights to this Group P on CMC to login and view , and at the USERS top level security - to reset password for all users.
Am wondering how I can achieve it. Please help. Is there any thing am missing on giving access on or which specific rights should I assign to this group.

Thanks for your help in advance!!

Hi,

Login to CMC with Administrator role and then Go to Users Tab click rights, add P gorup ,select Advanced and then give grant permission to change user password.

Yes Vallabh,
That’s already been done. I have given rights at top level security for Users - to change password for other users.
If you have implemented it at your end, what extra thing have you done which I have not? Can you explain what all steps you have done to make it work.

Thanks for the prompt response anyways!!

Hey!!

I made it

One of the post helped me :

These lines helped me:
"If I give the “Modify the rights users have to objects and Change user password” then the user can change the password and the rights as well.

If I remove the “Modify the rights users have to objects” and give “Change user password” then the user cannot change the password or rights. Everything is locked.
"
But yes there was a thing missing:

  • you need to give the modify rights on Top Level User’s security (also at CMC application level) and
  • give the ‘Edit objects’ rights on Top Level Users level

It is just working as expected, no other rights on any thing else other than reset password or enabling/disabling user/ or just change the properties of a user.

Wooooo… this made my day.

Thanks
