Repository Log In

We have been running Business Objects (4.1.2) through Citrix (1.8) without a repository until about 3 weeks ago when we finally set it up.

We had database problems last week and had to restore the entire database (Oracle) from backups.

Now, when a user enters Business Objects, they no longer have to enter a user name and password. The box doesn’t even appear.

I had to change the universe connections to Shared and save for all users for users to be able to refresh documents.

The Supervisor module seems to be in tact.

How can I get the user module to go through the repository again?

Thanks.

Sounds like you are lacking (or it’s in the wrong place) a BOMAIN.KEY file. Without one, users won’t get prompted for a username/password.

You need to launch supervisor and perform a safe recovery on you’r key file. That should take care of it.

Where should the BOMAIN.KEY file be located?

Thanks.

If it is a standard setup, the BOMain.key will be under the Locdata folder under Business Objects directory.
If it is a shared setup , then it will be under the Shdata folder under the Business Objects directory.

Hi

Points to check.

  1. Were the user being asked the user name & password prior to the databse problem ? if no, then the BOMain.key needs to be distributed to the users’ LOCData directory.
  2. If supervisor is working fine, then check if the user module is also working from the same system ? if yes, then redistribute this BOMain.key & check it on other systems. If no, then try recreating the BOMain.key by using the Safe Recovery option from the supervisor. Use this key & try to invoke the login.

If you are running a shared configuration it will be in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Business Objects 5.0\ShData on your server. If you are running a stand alone configuration it will be in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Business Objects 5.0\LocData on each pc. In you run the safe recovery on the key and you get an error that the bomain.key was not the one used to create ths bomain.ssi, rename or delete both the bomain.key and the bomain.ssi, then run the safe recovery again. If you are using a stand alone config, you’ll have to do this on every PC, If you are using shared installation, you’ll should only have to do it once and everyone will be ok.
