Repository Database Password Expired

Hi All,

I relatively work more on BO XIR2, but this one here the issue is BO 5.1.5 version.

When I try to login to Designer/Supervisor, I get the message:

It is clear that the eror is because the Oracle user that has been provided as the repository conection has an old password. I need to know how to change the repository password.

Please tell me if I am not clear or any other information is required.

non-bo relative but just oracle error. I suggest you to contact your oracle DBA about this. they are the only one who can help you

I know this error means that I need to reset my username/password of the repository database.

What I need to know is how to change the username password for the repository database.

Sorry if I was not clear in the first post.

There has to be an option in BO where we can set/change the username/password to the repository.

maybe you should recreate your bomain.key providing another password at this time. launch for this supervisor module then click on Admin buton

hopping it’s helping

Ohh… Yes!!

thanks a lot. I am almost a dummy for the 5.x version.

Also it would very appreciated if somebody could direct me how to know the current username/pwd being used in my BoMain key file.

If you don’t know it then it’s not possible to retrieve this information from the bomain.key file. This information is encrypted in the file.

then there is no other way of knowing which repository database/user/password i am currently using?

Anyways, I got my error resolved by going through the Admin console and recreating the BoMain key file. Somebody remembered the user/pwd for the repository. but what in case I am handed over responsibility of a repository whose username/database is not known to me. This is possible to find out in case of XI R2 as the DB schema names are pre-defined and the password can be obtained from the DBA.

Anyways… Thanks a lot to Marek and Bernard! This really helped me learn Bo 5.x a lot! Sincere gratitude!

There is a way to find in which database (and sometimes also user/schema) the BO repository is located. Open Supervisor, go to menu Tools -> Repository and check the security domain. In one column (I dont remember the name right now) there is this information. In case of Oracle database there is the name of the database and the schema where the BO repo is located. But there is no password, of course. I don’t know what’s there in case of another database.
